We never thought about how much this world could change, just in a few months– not even in our nightmares did we imagine ourselves sitting stuck in our homes attending school, classes and having conference calls online. In today’s era, all our lives and daily routines have been disrupted by the Corona Virus pandemic, everything has become Online.HOW LLCC CAN INCREASE JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN UAE

Adults and Children are glued to their devices as they cannot step out of their house. Online learning turns out to be more and more practiced. It represents an easy and comfortable method to achieve knowledge in almost every field. Online learning apps such as Zoom and Google Meet have served as a convenient and effective medium to study and have conference calls when everything is online today. Online learning is now applicable not just to learn academics but it also extends to learning extracurricular activities for students as well. In recent months, the demand for online learning has risen significantly, and it will continue doing so in the future.

Although Online Learning is the “new normal” , it has few pros and cons.

  1. Advantages
  • Convenience: One of the best advantages of Online learning is that it enables students to attend their classes from any location and at their own comfort and convenience. It is convenient as online lectures can be recorded and stored in their device for future needs. It also allows schools to reach out to a more extensive network of students, instead of being restricted by geographical boundaries. Online learning allows students accessibility of time and place for education.
  • Efficiency: Another advantage of online learning is that teachers can prepare PDFs, powerpoint presentations and other tools and apps to make the subject more interesting and fun to learn. By extending their lessons beyond textbooks, students are exposed to extra knowledge about the subject.
  • Effective: Online learning is effective because students can finish their homework quickly, and there is more time left. Through presentations they understand better and a clearer version of the subject is available to them.

  1. Disadvantages
  • Strains the eyes and damages the brain: Ever since school has turned online, children are seen glued to their devices throughout the day. Some studies suggest that the electromagnetic radiation produced by mobile phones causes harm to human health. Brain cancer has been cited as a possible effect of long term regular phone usage.
  • Very little social interaction: While this may seem obvious, due to the pandemic and schools shut, children are unable to interact and communicate with their friends physically. This has led to loneliness as they have no one to communicate or talk to as friends have a special place in all our hearts, don’t they? As catching up with friends seems an arduous job, applications are making it easier to stay in touch and conserve relations.
  • More work and pressure: Online courses typically require a greater amount of reading and assignments than physical classes. The classes are not very efficient and according to the reports 95% of the children are copying. Nevertheless , there is a lot of pressure on the children to understand the subject or the topic themselves. In addition to this, due to online teaching there are a lot of assignments given to children to complete at a very short notice.

As we proceed towards a whole different generation, we are getting smarter and more comfortable day By day with devices– thanks to the pandemic! Exams are scheduling and now there is very little difference between online and physical classes. Despite the potential pitfalls, the vast majority of people are satisfied with their online education and happy that they chose it over physical classroom education. If you know the positives and negatives, you can make an informed decision whether online learning is right for you.
